Electrical Drives Engineer

At ABB, we are dedicated to addressing global challenges by empowering everyone to create sustainable solutions. This position reports to Engineering Manager - Marine Systems. Your role and responsibilities include being a design authority for an engineering discipline, completing assignments on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects in a cost-effective manner, and ensuring assignments are completed in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and cybersecurity policies and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the customer to shape and deliver solutions while seeking customer feedback to drive and deliver improvements.
- Create work plans and cost estimates for the portfolio of projects and ensure quality, timely implementation within the targeted cost.
- Coordinate with relevant functions to ensure the designs are appropriately manufactured / staged, tested, installed, and commissioned.
- Coach engineering colleagues on the translation of conceptual designs to engineering documentation, best practices, and lessons learned from past projects.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree plus 5-years experience in Power Electronics and Drives preferred, but not required. Experience in Control Engineering for Power Electronics and Drives, control theory and simulation tools e.g. MATLAB/ Simulink. Basic knowledge of C/C++ programming and willingness to develop this skill and related processes. Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
