Phlebotomist - GWV Medical Office Building - Full Time - Days

Job Summary:

Geisinger Health System is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at the GWV Medical Office Building. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients in a clinical setting. This is a full-time position working days, with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Responsibilities:
  • Collect blood samples from patients in a clinical setting
  • Process specimens for analysis
  • Utilize computer systems to register patients and facilitate billing
  • Perform specimen accessioning and processing
  • Exhibit knowledge of adequate and correct collection requirements
  • Recognize and resolve discrepancies as appropriate
  • Evaluate specimen suitability and acceptability
  • Resolves or refers problems as appropriate
  • Perform testing and record Point of Care instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control as assigned
  • Handle and replenish reagents and supplies according to established protocols as assigned
  • Follow established reporting procedures as appropriate
  • Record and report problems and solutions as appropriate
  • Navigate and access multiple computer applications as needed
  • Know and abide by related policies and procedures including compliance policies
  • Provide phlebotomy coverage as required to Medical Group offices, skilled nursing facilities, or perform in-home phlebotomy for homebound patients
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
  • Experience as a nursing assistant (NA), certified nursing assistant (CNA), medical assistant (MA), certified medical assistant (CMA) or similar will be considered
  • US Army 68W Combat Medic, 18D, US Navy Hospital Corpsman, and related medical specialties will be considered
