- Become proficient in mortgage industry compliance standards and lending guidelines.
- Conduct thorough reviews to ensure compliance with applicable rules and proper documentation of loan processes.
- Monitor evolving trends and changes in consumer-related laws and assist in implementing necessary regulatory adjustments.
- Execute fieldwork under appropriate supervision, engage with management at all levels, and perform detailed testing, ensuring well-organized audit documentation.
- Assess risks associated with key controls and evaluate the effectiveness of the overall control framework.
- Formulate conclusions regarding the adequacy of internal controls based on audit findings and draft clear, concise audit reports.
- Oversee the implementation of corrective action plans and provide updates to management.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or MIS, or equivalent audit experience.
- 3-5 years of recent banking compliance experience, with a focus on mortgage compliance preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in residential mortgage servicing or financial services is advantageous.
- Willingness to travel as necessary to engage with regional banking clients.
- Experience in developing and evaluating control tests, analyzing issues, and formulating effective corrective action plans.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also managing independent assignments.
- Strong communication skills for preparing and delivering presentations to senior management and interacting with regulators and clients.
- Capability to manage multiple assignments with minimal supervision while meeting performance standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
- Technologically adept with a quick learning curve for various client systems.
