Position Summary:

We are in search of a meticulous and strategic Procurement Operations Manager to lead our purchasing initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in the pet food or feed sector, along with a comprehensive understanding of packaging materials and supplier dynamics. This role encompasses managing supplier partnerships, negotiating agreements, and ensuring the efficient and cost-effective procurement of high-quality materials and products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement Strategy Development: Formulate and execute procurement strategies that align with corporate goals, ensuring a reliable supply of materials and products.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Identify, assess, and cultivate relationships with suppliers. Negotiate contracts and terms to achieve optimal pricing and quality.
  • Inventory Oversight: Track inventory levels and collaborate with production and sales teams to anticipate needs and maintain ideal stock levels.
  • Cost Analysis: Evaluate market trends and supplier pricing to uncover cost-saving opportunities. Implement cost management strategies without sacrificing quality.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all procured materials and products adhere to company quality standards and regulatory requirements. Conduct regular supplier evaluations and quality assessments.
  • Packaging Expertise: Source and manage packaging materials, ensuring compliance with the specific needs of pet food products. Stay informed about the latest innovations and regulations in packaging.
  • Data Management and Reporting: Maintain precise procurement records and generate reports on purchasing activities, cost savings, and supplier performance metrics.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Partner closely with R&D, production, quality assurance, and marketing teams to synchronize procurement efforts with product development and business objectives.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential supply chain risks and devise contingency plans to address them effectively.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies related to procurement and supplier management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline. A Master's degree is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Procurement Operations Manager or in a comparable role within the pet food or feed industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management, and contract negotiations.
  • Familiarity with packaging materials and supplier networks.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) are preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with sustainable and eco-friendly packaging solutions.
  • Knowledge of global supply chain management and international trade regulations.
  • Experience in feed procurement.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and inventory management software.
  • Strong project management capabilities.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a full-time position that may require occasional travel to supplier locations and industry events.
