Position Overview

The Outside Plant Construction Project Leader will oversee all facets of the Wireline Outside Plant Construction operations. This role involves scheduling the workload of construction teams, serving as a primary point of contact for clients, and managing both Aerial and Buried Fiber Utilities. The position demands a keen attention to detail, the ability to multitask, and strong relationship-building skills. The Project Leader acts as a liaison between supervisors and clients during scheduling discussions and is responsible for managing the workflow of all projects assigned by the client.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the change order completion process, ensuring all work is pre-approved to avoid overextending company resources.
  • Drive revenue generation while maintaining positive profit margins for the organization.
  • Effectively schedule workloads, provide job forecasting reports, and communicate with clients regarding scheduling and employee assignments.
  • Respond promptly and accurately to client technical issues and ensure compliance with contractual obligations for maintaining and installing client equipment.
  • Focus on critical factors such as cost, time, quality, and client satisfaction.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate company databases.
  • Collaborate with municipalities to execute necessary permits.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with the construction operations team to align build schedules with client priorities.
  • Review and implement key performance indicators related to build production, job management, and market productivity.
  • Promote safe working practices and conditions in accordance with all regulations and policies.
  • Manage customer escalations and mitigate roadblocks effectively.
  • Work hours and schedules will vary based on regional and client needs, typically requiring at least 8 hours per day, 5 days a week, with potential weekend and overtime work depending on workload demands.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years of experience in project management within wireline outside plant construction.
  • Demonstrated experience in customer-facing project management roles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (including VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables) and Word.
  • Strong data manipulation capabilities.
  • Effective communication skills with clients and team members to achieve project goals.
  • Ability to understand and utilize work-in-progress reports and accurately forecast work for the next 90 days.
  • Proven management skills for construction crew workloads.
  • Ability to interpret construction prints and blueprints, as well as site layout planning.
  • Attention to detail is essential.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Google Drive and Sheets.
  • Familiarity with Quick Base software.
  • Experience in outside plant operations.
