Job Title: Dentist

Join the Penobscot Indian Nation as a Dentist and contribute to the delivery of high-quality dental services to our community.

Job Summary:

The Dentist will provide dental services and maintain a high level of clinical supervision to ensure the delivery of excellent patient care. This role requires a strong commitment to public health and a passion for working with diverse populations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide on-site general dentistry services, including fillings, crowns, bridges, endodontic treatment, extractions, and emergency treatment.
  • Read and interpret radiographs as necessary.
  • Complete impressions for crowns, bridges, dentures, and partials.
  • Perform laboratory work, including pouring models, model preparation, and soft reline of dentures.
  • Conduct denture and partial fittings and adjustments.
  • Review medical forms with patients as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation in patient records.
  • Provide patient education and complete prescriptions as necessary.
  • Practice proper infection control and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Provide emergency consultation to the Dental Hygienist/Program Coordinator outside of scheduled on-site work hours.
  • Conduct prompt and thorough response to any complaints concerning on-site dental services.
  • Provide technical assistance and case consultation to other on-site dentists as required.
  • Maintain compliance with all HIPAA regulations.
  • Perform routine duties, including providing dental care services to individuals eligible for services provided by the IHS in homes, schools, clinics, job sites, and other community locations within the Penobscot Nation's Contract Health Service Delivery Area.
Requirements:
  • DDS or DMD from an accredited Dental school within 90 days of hire.
  • 2 years of clinic experience in Public Health preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar environment preferred.
  • No prior record of professional malfeasance.
  • Valid State License or eligible to receive license in dentistry within 90 days of hire.
  • DEA License within 90 days of hire.
  • Background check required.
Physical Demands:

The Dentist must be able to stand, sit, walk, use hands, fingers, reach with hands and fingers and arms, meet minimum vision requirements, lean and stoop down, and lift up to 10 pounds.

A pre-employment physical will be conducted in accordance with the Penobscot Nation Personnel Policies and Procedures.

Native American preference will be adhered to in accordance with the Penobscot Nation Personnel Policies and Procedures.
