The Role

As a Software Development Engineer on the ART19 team, you will be an end-to-end owner of complex problems across the podcast ecosystem. You will collaborate with team members in and across teams to improve and build new tools, services, and applications.

You will take a business problem from conception and design, develop and deploy software solutions while holding a high bar for code quality and your craft. You will also be responsible for delivering on schedule using current software engineering best practices.

Communication is an integral part of this role, and you will engage with stakeholders on planning and communication of project deliverables.

You may also be part of an on-call rotation within your team and will be able to troubleshoot, research the root cause, thoroughly resolve defects while maintaining ongoing communication with stakeholders and customers.

A Day in the Life

A day in the life of an ART19 engineer is focused and hands-on. You will work within a team of cross-functional engineers, product managers, and designers to construct end-to-end features to enhance best-in-class tools for podcast creators.

You will write and review code, architect cool new things, and solve technical challenges.

Basic Qualifications

5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

High-level fluency with and experience using Ruby on Rails and RubyGems

Experience building automated tests using RSpec to ensure that code meets quality standards and is ready for deployment

Experience using Active Record to interact with databases and perform data modeling

Experience building and scaling RESTful APIs, and familiarity with JSON: API specification

Experience using Git for version control and collaborating with other developers

Comprehensive knowledge of patterns such as MVC, Mocking, and Object-Oriented Programming

Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with other teams such as product and design to deliver high-quality software on time and on target

Continuously enjoy staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and best practices in software development

Experience using GitLab CI/CD for continuous integration and delivery

Knowledge of infrastructure as code and experience using Terraform to define, provision, and manage infrastructure

Experience utilizing AWS services to build and deploy applications in the cloud
