Overview of the Role
As a pivotal member of our healthcare team, you will oversee the provision of nutrition and diabetes education to patients across various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and community environments. Your role will adhere to established standards of care as dictated by federal and state regulations, as well as the guidelines set forth by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the NSDSME.

Your Responsibilities
- Formulate interdisciplinary care strategies grounded in the latest treatment knowledge and clinical practices, engaging in discussions with patients and relevant healthcare professionals.
- Act as a patient advocate during the execution of care plans.
- Conduct thorough nutritional evaluations for patients identified as at risk, whether through screening or as requested consultations, documenting findings in medical records using current technologies.
- Address requests for nutritional education or counseling for individuals and groups, providing necessary materials to support ongoing medical nutrition therapy or wellness initiatives.
- Deliver training sessions on medical nutrition therapy to staff as required.
Qualifications Required
Educational Background
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or a related discipline is essential.
- A Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of five years of experience in clinical dietetics and diabetes management is required.
- Experience in managing academic and/or experiential preparation programs.
- Background in caring for individuals with chronic diseases is advantageous.
Licensure and Certifications
- Registered Dietitian (RD) certification is mandatory.
- Certification as a New York Dietitian is required.
Skills and Competencies
- Demonstrated management capabilities, including knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong communication skills with colleagues and medical staff.
- Proficient in computer applications and the ability to adapt to department-specific software.
- Thorough understanding of regulatory standards.
- Experience in program management is beneficial.

Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated salary range for this position is between $62,940.80 and $94,432 annually, determined based on individual experience, education, and relevant certifications.
