Civil Engineer Job Description

The Village of Mokena, Illinois is seeking a highly motivated Civil Engineer to provide in-house engineering services to the community's residents and developers. The ideal candidate will possess a record of significant accomplishments in a growing suburban community committed to excellence in customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide engineering services to the community, including capital project planning and management, contract consultant supervision and management, and coordination of information and activities with IDOT, Will County, and other agencies.
  • Review and approve commercial and residential plans, and develop RFQs and RFPs for outside engineering services.
  • Supervise Public Works employees and work under the supervision of the Public Works Director and the Assistant Public Works Director.
  • Collaborate with fellow employees, supervisors, elected officials, and the public to effectively communicate and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Requirements:
  • Two to five years of progressively responsible experience in a municipal or consulting environment.
  • Graduation from a four-year accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer in Illinois.
  • Ability to attain specified water and wastewater operator certifications upon employment.
Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $107,000 to $128,000, based on qualifications. An excellent benefit package is also included.
