Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented CT Technologist to join our team at Northwest Community Hospital. As a CT Technologist, you will be responsible for operating computerized tomography (CT) scanning equipment to provide high-quality radiographic images for radiologists and physicians to diagnose patients' injuries and/or study body systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for procedures, instructing them on examination protocols and positioning them according to procedure requirements.
  • Explain examination procedures to patients, responding to their questions and utilizing AIDET concepts in all customer interactions.
  • Obtain and provide clinical information and patient history to radiologists for all patient procedures.
  • Administer radiographic contrast media by intravenous injection, adhering to infection control and universal precautions guidelines.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to assess, treat, and care for patients of all ages, implementing assessment, treatment, and care based on patient developmental stages.
  • Operate CT scanner to provide radiologists with optimum quality images, communicating preliminary interpretations to appropriate individuals as applicable.
  • Schedule patients and work at the reception station as needed.
  • Retrieve medications that are not controlled substances.
  • Maintain order and sanitary conditions of the work environment, adhering to hospital standards.
  • Supervise student activities, assist in training and evaluation, and assume responsibility for own professional growth through continuing education.
  • Adhere to departmental and hospital safety standards, attending mandatory safety inservice education programs.
  • Perform on-call duties as scheduled.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school in Radiologic Technology.
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification in CT and current ARRT registration.
  • Current Illinois Emergency Management Agency license.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in the correct use of body mechanics.
  • Current CPR certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with patients and hospital staff.
  • Analytical ability to determine proper patient positioning and scanning parameters.
  • Written and verbal communication skills necessary to document patient procedures and communicate radiologists' interpretations.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule and fulfill on-call responsibilities.
Working Conditions

Conditions are acceptable, with at least one disagreeable element or hazard present in the environment, including risk of exposure to radiation and occasional exposure to infectious diseases.
