Job Overview

Position Type: Pool Position (Hours Not Guaranteed)

As a Radiologic Technologist I, you will conduct routine diagnostic imaging and fluoroscopic procedures with minimal supervision. This role involves preparing and operating various radiographic equipment, including fixed and portable x-ray machines, while ensuring adherence to safety protocols and departmental guidelines. You will provide compassionate and efficient care to patients and may assist in other departmental areas as necessary. Availability for on-call shifts is required.


Key Responsibilities
  1. Prepare patients and perform diagnostic exams using fluoroscopic and x-ray equipment, ensuring compliance with radiation safety and infection control standards.
  2. Support Radiologists during fluoroscopic procedures and may perform minor procedures under their guidance, in line with certification standards.
  3. Administer contrast materials and medications under physician supervision when necessary.
  4. Assist physicians in the operating room during fluoroscopic procedures.
  5. Set up sterile surgical equipment according to established protocols.
  6. Provide assistance in emergency situations under the direction of medical personnel.
  7. Review and assess diagnostic images for technical accuracy and quality.
  8. Verify patient information and update exam descriptions to reflect the actual procedures performed.
  9. Support clinical instructors in training and supervising student technologists.
  10. Participate in the orientation and training of new X-ray Technicians and Radiologic Technologists.
  11. Utilize PACS, RIS, and current EMR systems effectively, completing necessary documentation for each examination.
  12. Maintain cleanliness of radiographic equipment and report any malfunctions or required repairs to supervisory staff.
  13. Adhere to continuing education requirements set by regulatory bodies.
  14. Engage in departmental meetings and complete all mandatory training and in-service education.
  15. Contribute to Quality Improvement Programs.
  16. Follow ALARA principles and adhere to the Image Gently and Image Wisely pledges.
  17. Apply proper body mechanics when assisting patients with transfers and mobility.
  18. Maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
  19. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Associate degree in Radiologic Technology from an accredited program.
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Washington State Certification as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) license.

Desired:

  • Prior experience in a hospital radiology setting is preferred.
  • One year of clinical experience in diagnostic radiology and fluoroscopy.
