Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer I - Unarmed to join our team at Medstar. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to emergencies and provide necessary assistance to employees and customers.
  • Conduct designated security patrols throughout the facility and monitor security and appearance of lobbies, waiting areas, elevators, and entrances.
  • Prepare and submit reports and logs of all incidents, investigations, and activities.
  • Provide assistance for way-finding, parking, deliveries, and other requested information for the hospital and Medstar affiliates.
  • Respond to security and medical code calls, investigate incidents and accidents, and gather information and evidence.
  • Testify at legal proceedings, hearings, and trials.
  • Collect and secure patient valuables and lost-and-found articles.
  • Monitor camera surveillance and other security technology systems as directed.
  • Assist supervisor with daily supervision of the shift and assume charge role as needed.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 5-7 years directly related security, corrections, or law enforcement experience required.
  • 1-2 years of Medstar experience as a Security Officer I may be substituted for direct law enforcement experience.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's License - Endorsement P (Passenger) Valid driver's license required.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support BLS (CPR) certification required.
  • Maryland Special Police Commission preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • IAHSS Certification as a Security Officer preferred.
