Controller Job Description

Pacific Seafood is seeking a highly skilled Controller to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for managing and controlling financial and accounting systems within the Distribution Division.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify daily financial transactions, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, and intercompany charges are recorded accurately and on time.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including supporting documentation.
  • Ensure inventory analysis is included in monthly financial statements and reviewed with the General Manager.
  • Prepare reconciliations of general ledger accounts for review each period.
  • Assist in timely and accurate financial reporting, providing analysis and recommendations to branch management.
  • Explain variances in financial statements and communicate with key stakeholders in the Finance and Operational teams.
  • Organize and coordinate annual budget preparation at the location level.
  • Ensure accurate preparation and submission of tax forms, registration, licenses, etc.
  • Assist in formulating and ensuring internal controls are followed in compliance with legislation and best practices, recommending improvements as necessary.
  • Drive process improvement projects and serve on multi-disciplined teams to ensure new transactions are accurately accounted for and captured on financial statements.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in accounting.
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Preferred: Exposure to multiple companies and accounting policies and procedures, CPA or CMA, Bachelor's degree in accounting, Bilingual.
