Job Responsibilities
A key member of the commercial fleet maintenance team, you will play a critical role in ensuring our vehicles are in top condition. Some of your key responsibilities will include:- Responding to road calls to diagnose and repair malfunctions in our vehicles and equipment.
- Installing, replacing, and repairing refrigerants, ventilation systems, brakes, engines, clutches, transmissions, starters, alternators, and batteries as needed.
- Creating and entering data for work orders and check sheets on work being performed, including posting parts corresponding with fleet maintenance software.
- Maintaining a clean and safe work area while performing preventative maintenance on all commercial fleet vehicles and service trucks to Department of Transportation specifications.
- Inspecting and testing vehicles and equipment to ensure they meet Department of Transportation standards.
- Lubricating joints, checking doors, inspecting the exterior, and repairing rivets and sides as needed on trailers.
- Examining protective guards and bolts to make necessary adjustments.
- Reviewing job orders and diagnosing equipment malfunctions to plan work procedures.
- Testing drive repaired tractor trailer trucks or service equipment to verify compliance with Department of Transportation specifications.
- Performing Department of Transportation inspections on tractors and trailers.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should have 3-5 years of experience in heavy equipment repair, with a focus on commercial fleet maintenance. Thermo King experience, Refrigerant R-404A Certification, and Compressed Natural Gas experience are highly valued. Preventative maintenance/repair work on tractors is essential, and you must have your own hand and power tools. Two to five years of experience working on class 8 vehicles is preferred. You should have a high school diploma or equivalent and hold relevant certifications such as Brake Certifications, PA Class 3, 4, or 7 Inspection, Tractor/Trailer Inspections, and a valid Driver's License. Holding a valid Class A CDL is highly desired. Lifting up to 100 pounds is required.Benefits
