We are seeking a skilled Transportation Mechanic to join our team at Fort Zumwalt R-II School District. As a key member of our fleet maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of our school buses.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on school buses to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Inspect buses prior to the start of school and affix State of Missouri inspection stickers as prescribed by law.
- Assist in preparation of the fleet for the annual State Highway Patrol inspection.
- Travel to breakdown locations to diagnose maintenance problems.
- Be responsible for personal and district-owned tools and equipment.
- Assist in cleaning of the shop as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a vehicle mechanic, with a thorough knowledge of diesel and gasoline-powered equipment.
- Experience in school bus maintenance is preferred.
- Must have or be able to obtain own hand tools.
- Must have a CDL and Missouri School Bus Drivers Permit.
The employee will occasionally work in conditions of extreme heat or cold. The employee must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift, move, push, or pull up to 100 pounds.
The employee should have good color vision and hearing, and excellent speech capabilities.
