Job Title: Shipbuilding EstimatorAt Wide Effect, we are seeking a skilled Shipbuilding Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for ship repair, refit, and new construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services based on project specifications, blueprints, and customer requirements.
- Analyze project specifications and requirements to determine the necessary resources and timeframes for completion.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop competitive and accurate proposals for ship repair, refit, and new construction projects.
- Obtain quotes from vendors and subcontractors to ensure the most cost-effective options are included in the estimate.
- Identify potential risks associated with the project and incorporate appropriate contingencies into the cost estimates.
- Maintain detailed records of all estimates, including assumptions, calculations, and supporting documentation for future reference.
- Assist in managing project budgets by providing accurate cost projections and helping to identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Engage with clients to clarify project scope, discuss cost estimates, and address any concerns or questions.
- Stay updated on industry trends, pricing, and best practices to ensure estimates remain competitive and reflect current market conditions.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in shipyard estimating or a related field, with a strong understanding of ship repair and construction processes.
- In-depth knowledge of ship systems, construction methods, materials, and repair techniques.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical documents and drawings, and accurately estimate costs.
- Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all estimates and proposals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
- Ability to identify potential issues and develop solutions to minimize cost and risk.
- Proficiency in estimating software, Microsoft Office Suite, and AutoCAD.
- A bachelor's degree in engineering, naval architecture, or a related field is preferred.
