About the Role
As an experienced Electrical BIM Technician at Nelson-Rudie & Associates, Inc., you will play a vital part in designing electrical systems for building construction projects. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing daily production of Revit, AutoCAD, and/or MicroStation drawings within set parameters. You will also be required to compile technical data from drawings, field notes, and/or electronic data while coordinating with other internal disciplines and external consultants as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively with project teams on various building and construction types to understand scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
  • Draft preliminary layouts from engineering notes, sketches, and/or other drawings, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards and codes.
  • Model existing buildings based on available documentation.
  • Analyze technical problems, devise new or improved techniques, approaches, and alternative solutions, and communicate them for approval and implementation.
  • Assist in the completion of engineering drawings by reviewing shop drawings, RFIs, and vendor documents as necessary.
  • Manage the production of multiple drawings/projects simultaneously, organizing and maintaining all revisions of project drawings, plot files, and project-related information according to company policies and procedures.
  • Attend project meetings, jobsite visits, and/or conduct on-site investigations/assessments of existing buildings as required for projects, which may involve occasional overnight travel.
  • Participate in trouble-shooting activities and BIM system set-up and procedures.
  • Maintain daily communication with electrical project team members and internal/external disciplines regarding project status.

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • A minimum Associate or technical degree in Design/Drafting Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline is required.
  • 2+ years' experience working as an electrical BIM technician. Candidates with 2 years' experience as an intern working in a technician role will be considered.
  • Experience with design models and drawings, familiarity with industry standards, and common systems within buildings.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Revit, and AutoCAD. MicroStation is a plus. Ability to maintain skill levels within the changing technology environment.
  • Comfortable working in a high-demand, fast-paced environment with excellent attention to detail and meeting deadlines as required. Routinely self-checks own work for completeness and accuracy.
  • Organized and able to work on several projects simultaneously, a multitasker comfortable working independently and effectively in a team environment to deliver projects.
  • Positive and professional attitude with excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with co-workers and clients in person or virtually.
