Job Summary

Lucile Packard Children's Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Diabetes Educator to join our team. As a key member of our clinical services team, you will provide diabetes education services for the Diabetes or Obstetric Programs, collaborating with clinical care teams to ensure appropriate diabetes management and education protocols in the inpatient and outpatient setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide diabetes self-management education (DSME) for newly diagnosed patients with diabetes and their families.
  • Facilitate outpatient diabetes classes pertinent to the Stanford Children's diabetes education program.
  • Make recommendations involving diabetes management supplies and devices, including insulin delivery devices, insulin pumps, blood glucose meters, and continuous glucose meters.
  • Provide ongoing education for both the family and patient with diabetes.
  • Assist with training patients starting on insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors.
  • Communicate with patients and families regarding patient care in clinic settings, via Mychart, via email, and via phone call follow up.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university.
  • One (1) year of progressively responsible and directly related experience.
  • Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) maintained by the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE).
