Over the past two decades, SimVentions has integrated a variety of tools such as build servers, artifact storage, container registries, source control, issue tracking, vulnerability scanning, and testing environments into our software development processes.

We now require your expertise to help us construct the next generation of this infrastructure and facilitate its utilization by our teams.

As a defense contractor, we adhere to numerous standards to maintain our operations. Our dedicated IT staff ensures that our corporate technology complies with contract and regulatory requirements. The tools and systems we employ must be designed with a security-first approach while remaining adaptable and functional.

You will play a crucial role in ensuring that our next generation of software development tools adheres to these standards and integrates seamlessly with our corporate infrastructure.


Your understanding of the software development lifecycle will be invaluable in selecting the most suitable tools for our needs.

Your extensive experience in managing Linux and Windows systems, along with software applications, will be essential for configuring them securely and scaling them to meet our growing demands.

While the challenges may be significant, you will have ample support from a knowledgeable and friendly IT team eager to assist you. Additionally, you will collaborate with a group of software developers experienced in infrastructure to guide you through requirements and implementation strategies.

There is much to accomplish, but you will have the opportunity to make a substantial impact on the 50+ software engineers at SimVentions.

Your contributions will lay the groundwork that allows them to concentrate on meeting the needs of the warfighter and delivering exceptional solutions.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with the team to design, build, test, and deploy modifications to both new and existing software
Expand, manage, enhance, and optimize our extensive and evolving infrastructure, both on-premise and in the cloud, to guarantee high availability and performance
Automate and streamline our operational processes
Troubleshoot and resolve issues across our development, staging, and production environments
Assist Software Engineers in building, testing, and deploying their applications
Create and implement a disaster recovery plan for our development environment
Design, implement, and maintain scalable and reliable infrastructure solutions utilizing cloud-based services
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure smooth operations
Adhere to security best practices in all aspects of infrastructure, code deployment, and software development
Stay informed about industry trends and best practices to continually enhance our Software/DevOps processes
Select and maintain optimal tools and technologies for the continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) process
Monitor systems for malicious activity to ensure system availability

Requirements:
United States Citizenship
8+ years of experience in System Administration on Linux
5+ years of experience with the software development lifecycle
5+ years of experience using bash or python and other programming tools and techniques
3+ years of experience in Cloud Native technologies (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and architectural concepts with the ability to design, deploy, and support cloud-based systems
Experience in deployment and support for internally developed tools and applications
Familiarity with VMWare/Vsphere, Hyper V
Experience with Kubernetes
Proficiency in writing Dockerfiles for applications in multiple languages
Experience in scripting to automate repetitive tasks
Ability to debug and triage production issues
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong problem-solving abilities, capacity to multitask under tight deadlines, and exceptional attention to detail; self-directed and results-oriented

Preferred Skills & Experience:
Knowledgeable in multiple programming languages
Familiarity with NIST standards
Experience in System Administration of Windows operating systems
Experience with Docker and containerization technologies
Strong understanding of network protocols and security
Experience in configuring and managing databases.

Education:
A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline or equivalent experience required

Clearance:
A Secret Clearance will be required for this position (not necessary to start).

Compensation at SimVentions is determined by various factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, education, training, security clearance, work location, skills, knowledge, and competencies, as well as alignment with our corporate compensation plan and contract-specific requirements.

The projected annual compensation range for this position is Insert Range (USD).

This estimate reflects the standard salary range for this position and is just one component of the total compensation package that SimVentions offers.
