Key Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of a marketing or underwriting manager, the Contract Surety Underwriter will:

  • Evaluate bond renewals and submissions, underwriting within established authority limits or providing recommendations to management.
  • Utilize financial analysis and underwriting expertise to achieve acceptable loss ratios.
  • Exhibit proficiency in adhering to company underwriting policies and procedures.
  • Engage in regular travel within the assigned territory, utilizing various modes of transportation.
  • Attend agency visits to sustain existing business relationships and explore new opportunities.
  • Foster relationships with agency personnel to bolster marketing initiatives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure effective underwriting services are delivered to agents.
  • Maintain the agency database using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software to support marketing growth objectives.
  • Leverage data to drive business development.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
This role necessitates a Bachelor's Degree along with a minimum of one year of relevant experience. The Contract Surety Underwriter must be capable of working independently in a dynamic environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office applications is essential.

Additional skills required include:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.
  • Competence in using various office equipment.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:
This position involves prolonged periods of sitting, with occasional standing or walking. The role may require lifting, pushing, or carrying items up to 10 pounds. Ergonomic equipment is available to support employee comfort.
