Respiratory Therapist Job Description

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team on a per diem basis. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who value flexibility and variety in their work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide respiratory care services to patients in various settings, including critical and non-critical care venues.
  • Operate specialized ventilators and assist physicians with bedside procedures as needed.
  • Administer medication treatments and therapies per physician order and/or patient-driven respiratory protocols.
  • Clean, maintain, and ensure proper functionality of equipment, troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Educate and instruct patients on respiratory care techniques, self-care, and disease management.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide education on managing patients and facilitate clinical problem-solving.
Requirements:
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
  • Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) within 12 months OR active Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential issued by the NBRC if credential received prior to January 1, 2019.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
