Job Title: Asphalt Screed Operator

We are seeking a skilled Asphalt Screed Operator to join our team at Fischman Asphalt. As a key member of our paving crew, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining asphalt paving equipment, ensuring precise and smooth pavement surfaces.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain asphalt paving equipment, including the asphalt screed, to achieve project goals efficiently and effectively.
  • Collaborate closely with the paving crew to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Monitor and adjust machine settings to meet specifications for grade, slope, and thickness of the asphalt layer.
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance tasks on equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to promote a safe working environment for yourself and your team.
  • Operate company vehicles to transport materials or equipment to job sites as needed.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • Assist the paving foreman with layout and planning.
  • Fulfill other general laboring duties when the paving crew is not working.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as an Asphalt Screed Operator or similar role in the asphalt paving industry.
  • Proficient in operating and troubleshooting asphalt paving equipment, particularly the asphalt screed.
  • Strong understanding of asphalt mix designs, paving techniques, and industry standards.
  • Ability to interpret construction plans, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Commitment to safety practices and regulations.
  • Possess a knowledge base on FDOT Flexible Paving as well as Paving By The Numbers.
  • Willingness and ability to work days, nights, or weekends as needed.
  • Proven experience working with Trimble electronic paving systems.
  • Minimum of 2 years paving on FDOT Highway projects.
  • Proficient in paving highways, city/municipal roadways, and parking lots.
  • Meet Fischman Asphalt MVR requirements and have a valid Florida Driver's License.
