We are seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to join our Diagnostic Imaging team at Mount Sinai Health System. As an MRI Technologist, you will be responsible for performing MRI imaging procedures and operating specialized equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
Key Responsibilities- Perform MRI imaging procedures and operate specialized equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
- Assist patients in preparing for MRI procedures and position them to ensure optimal image quality.
- Apply technical judgment to obtain studies of acceptable diagnostic quality according to written protocols and patient needs.
- Provide patient education relevant to specific imaging procedures, including informing patients of the nature of the procedure and any specific instructions they may need.
- Review patient safety questionnaires and follow MRI safety precautions prior to scanning patients.
- Ensure patients are cleared before transitioning from zone 2-3.
- Assist in administering opaque media and loading power injectors under aseptic technique.
- Position patients and associated coils to obtain optimum study.
- Scan patient-related documents.
- Ensure all images are appropriately labeled according to department SOP.
- Assist physicians directly as required.
- Evaluate radiographs for technical acceptability and ensure images are transmitted to PACS in a timely fashion.
- Ensure Radiology room and equipment cleanliness, including removal of soiled or dirty linen.
- Maintain supplies and accessories in imaging room necessary to safely perform duties.
- Accurately record all required patient tracking information into IDX (Radiology Information System).
- Schedule exams into IDX (Radiology Information System) as required.
- Ensure all studies performed are completed in IDX (Radiology Information System) in a timely fashion.
- Inform supervisor or appropriate personnel of needed repairs to equipment or unsafe conditions.
- Prevent the spread of infection to self, patients, visitors, and other employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocol.
- Attend in-services and other professional development meetings as required.
- Maintain licensure specific to job, including adherence to Article 35 of the Public Health Code.
