About the Role:

The Maintenance Supervisor Trainee plays a pivotal role in the daily execution of maintenance work at Owens Corning's Roofing Plant. This position requires a strong ability to motivate and lead a team, as well as demonstrate clear and effective communication skills. The ideal candidate will have a passion for safety and be able to foster positive working relationships with plant employees and leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety:
    • Ensure adherence to the plant's safety process and promote good safety habits among craft labor.
    • Monitor maintenance areas for proper housekeeping and maintain a safe work environment.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections and provide employees with safety training to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe conditions.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
    • Perform and train on all tasks of Industrial Maintenance Technician.
    • Makes timely and appropriate decisions when an emergency or breakdown occurs to minimize production interruption.
    • Perform root cause analysis and identify appropriate maintenance practices to improve equipment reliability.
  • Work Supervisor & Training Others:
    • Develop and maintain working relationships with union representatives.
    • Provide effective communication within the Maintenance department and with other plant departments.
    • Lead daily maintenance shift huddles and ensure shift-to-shift communication.
  • Maintenance Project Management:
    • Work with the Maintenance Leader on planning scheduled extended maintenance downtimes.
    • Lead capital projects as assigned by the Maintenance Leader.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience as a Multi-craft Industrial Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing setting.
  • PLC (Allen Bradley) troubleshooting and programming experience is a plus.
  • Electrical license is a plus.

Work Environment:

The Maintenance Supervisor Trainee will work in an industrial manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and exposure to noise levels. The position requires the ability to climb up to three floors, use full upper body movement, and stand for up to 12 hours with breaks.
