Key Responsibilities- Monitor and investigate institutional facilities to identify potential cases of abuse, neglect, and rights violations.
- Provide legal services and advice to individuals eligible for Disability Rights Texas services, including legal advocacy, negotiation, mediation, and litigation.
- Develop and implement case strategies, conduct legal research, and gather evidence to support client outcomes.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, community members, and other disability groups, to achieve shared goals and objectives.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with clients, colleagues, and external partners to ensure seamless service delivery and outcomes.
- Law degree and Texas law license.
- Proven legal skills, including the ability to analyze and apply complex laws and regulations, conduct investigations, and gather evidence.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to articulate well-thought-out arguments and negotiate effectively.
- Knowledge of complex state and federal rights protection statutes, laws, and regulations.
- Awareness and knowledge of problems experienced by persons with disabilities.
- Ability and willingness to travel to all parts of the state, including overnight trips.
- Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, and collaboration skills to work effectively with others inside and outside the organization.
- Bilingual in Spanish, both written and spoken word.
