Disability Rights Texas is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Attorney to join our Institutional Rights and Civil Liberties Team in Fort Worth, Texas. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in protecting and advocating for the rights of individuals with disabilities in Texas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and investigate institutional facilities to identify potential cases of abuse, neglect, and rights violations.
  • Provide legal services and advice to individuals eligible for Disability Rights Texas services, including legal advocacy, negotiation, mediation, and litigation.
  • Develop and implement case strategies, conduct legal research, and gather evidence to support client outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, community members, and other disability groups, to achieve shared goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with clients, colleagues, and external partners to ensure seamless service delivery and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Law degree and Texas law license.
  • Proven legal skills, including the ability to analyze and apply complex laws and regulations, conduct investigations, and gather evidence.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to articulate well-thought-out arguments and negotiate effectively.
  • Knowledge of complex state and federal rights protection statutes, laws, and regulations.
  • Awareness and knowledge of problems experienced by persons with disabilities.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to all parts of the state, including overnight trips.
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, and collaboration skills to work effectively with others inside and outside the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual in Spanish, both written and spoken word.
