Fiber Construction Technician

Nex-Tech, LLC is expanding and in search of dedicated and industrious individuals who take pride in their craftsmanship. If you are interested in utilizing state-of-the-art equipment in the construction sector, this position may be ideal for you.
Our projects will primarily take place in the Saline County region for the foreseeable future. If you have a strong interest in construction, this role presents a valuable opportunity.
Key Responsibilities:- Hands-On Construction: Assist in executing work orders through the use of hand tools and construction machinery. Play a vital role in project completion by splicing and routing cables to designated locations.
- Cable Installation: Collaborate with the team to install and splice cables utilizing digging and trenching equipment, bucket trucks, and various construction tools. Operate different cable installation machinery to complete work orders. Maintain and repair both buried and aerial plant, along with associated equipment.
- Right-of-Way Management: Take responsibility for maintaining the right-of-way and ensure all surfaces are restored and cleaned after construction activities.
- Equipment Upkeep: Conduct routine maintenance, stocking, and cleaning of service vehicles and construction machinery to ensure optimal performance.
- Adaptable Team Member: Participate in various tasks as assigned by management. Engage in regular performance reviews with supervisors and accept guidance with a constructive attitude.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the communications sector and basic construction practices is advantageous.
- Communication Skills: Proficiency in both verbal and written communication to effectively engage with team members and business associates.
- Analytical Skills: Capability to think critically and resolve issues efficiently.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Customer Service Orientation: Skill in interacting with customers, colleagues, and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.
- Safety Awareness: Understanding of company safety protocols and procedures to maintain a secure work environment.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with RUS codes and regulations, as well as construction practices, is beneficial.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Ability to read and understand documents such as maps, blueprints, schematics, staking sheets, and operational/maintenance manuals.
- Commercial Driver's License: Capability to obtain and maintain a valid commercial driver's license, with acquisition expected within 60 days of employment.
- Telecommunications Knowledge: Understanding of REA grounding procedures and basic installation practices. Previous experience in telecommunications is a plus.
- Physical Capability: Ability to kneel, crawl, and stoop to perform repairs in confined spaces.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Three months of construction experience and familiarity with construction equipment.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Must be able to meet physical requirements.
