Operates radiologic equipment to produce radiographs (x-rays) of the body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by a Radiologist, by performing the following duties.
Responsibilities:
The Journeys and Adventures that Await
- Positions patients on the examination table and adjusts immobilization devices to secure optimal views of specific body areas as requested by the physician.
- Explains procedures to patients to alleviate anxieties and gain cooperation.
- Moves x-ray equipment into designated positions and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors such as time and distance.
- Implements radiation protection techniques to minimize exposure to patients and staff.
- Gathers pertinent patient history.
- Maintains crash cart.
- Oversees and stocks inventory.
- Adheres to OSHA regulations.
- Undertakes additional projects and duties related to departmental objectives.
- Must demonstrate the ability to collaborate with others, accept constructive feedback from supervisors, and adhere to workplace rules.
- Reports to the lead technologist for work assignments.
- Assists with film quality control and is required to work evenings and holidays, taking responsibility for departmental operations.
- Aids and relieves the manager in expediting patient workflow through the department.
Qualifications:
Level of Education
Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be AART registered or eligible and also IDNS licensed.
- CPR certification required.
6 months - 2 years of related experience.
