Operates radiologic equipment to produce radiographs (x-rays) of the body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by a Radiologist, by performing the following duties.


Responsibilities:
The Journeys and Adventures that Await

  • Positions patients on the examination table and adjusts immobilization devices to secure optimal views of specific body areas as requested by the physician.
  • Explains procedures to patients to alleviate anxieties and gain cooperation.
  • Moves x-ray equipment into designated positions and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors such as time and distance.
  • Implements radiation protection techniques to minimize exposure to patients and staff.
  • Gathers pertinent patient history.
  • Maintains crash cart.
  • Oversees and stocks inventory.
  • Adheres to OSHA regulations.
  • Undertakes additional projects and duties related to departmental objectives.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to collaborate with others, accept constructive feedback from supervisors, and adhere to workplace rules.
  • Reports to the lead technologist for work assignments.
  • Assists with film quality control and is required to work evenings and holidays, taking responsibility for departmental operations.
  • Aids and relieves the manager in expediting patient workflow through the department.

Qualifications:
Level of Education

Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must be AART registered or eligible and also IDNS licensed.
  • CPR certification required.
Years of Experience

6 months - 2 years of related experience.
