We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Care Associate to join our team at IMS People. As a Patient Care Associate, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities- Patient Care: Check vital signs, weights, and measures patients, obtain specimens, and record findings on patient charts.
- Specimen Collection: Instruct patients on how to obtain specimens for laboratory testing and perform basic specimen screening testing through dipstick and hemoccult.
- Lab Results: Prepare collected specimens for pick-up by labeling and preparing required forms, and pick-up lab results.
- Health Assessments: Perform vision and hearing testing, and simple urinalysis.
- Emergency Response: Administer emergency first aid, including basic life support procedures.
- Wound Care: Perform simple first aid such as dressing changes, bandaging, and cleansing of wounds, irrigation, and cleansing of ears.
- Examination Preparation: Prepare patients for examination and assist medical providers during examination by providing necessary supplies and equipment.
- Examining Room Preparation: Prepare examining rooms for examination, including cleaning and sterilizing instruments and equipment.
- Patient Education: Inform patients on proper preparation for various medical testing.
- Client Interviews: Conduct interviews of clients to obtain routine personal and medical information and appropriate health history.
- Chart Management: Maintain, complete, process, and file patients' charts, appropriate forms, and documents.
- Observation Reporting: Report observations of patients to medical staff caring for patients to ensure professional assessment.
- Customer Service: Answer routine inquiries of patients in person or via telephone and make appropriate referrals.
- Team Collaboration: Work effectively as a team member in the delivery of care and assist in the orientation of new employees.
- Patient Transportation: Direct and escort patients to other hospital departments and/or facilities, as needed.
- Scheduling Coordination: Coordinate efforts of various clinic and facility departments in scheduling and rebooking appointments through manual and/or automated systems, and enter pertinent patient information into hospital data systems.
- Phlebotomy: Obtain blood specimens for laboratory testing by performing venipuncture and/or fingerstick testing.
- Electrocardiograph Operations: Operate electrocardiograph equipment to record electrical wave tracing of the electrical currents of the heart muscle.
- Experience: 2 years of med/surg experience required.
- AHA BLS: American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.
- Education: High school diploma or its educational equivalent; Completion of a NYS Department of Health prescribed training program for Phlebotomy, satisfactory to the Laboratory Director; Completion of a health care setting-based training program in the performance of electrocardiographs.
- Venipuncture: Completion of a training program in venipuncture.
- Malpractice Insurance: All credentialed providers are required to have active individual medical malpractice insurance.
- Schedule: 8:00 AM-4:00 PM.
