Position Summary:

The IOP Addiction Counselor at Uprising Addiction Center is tasked with delivering addiction and mental health therapy to clients enrolled in the Intensive Outpatient Program. Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team, the Counselor will provide direct services such as individual, family, and group therapy, assessments, consultations, and crisis interventions, all within the bounds of their professional licensure.

Patient Demographics:

Age Group: Adults (18 years and older)

Clientele: Individuals meeting DSM-5 criteria for substance use disorders, with or without co-occurring mental health conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Stay informed about current trends and literature in the field, attending necessary training sessions.
  2. Document clinical services provided accurately and timely.
  3. Possess a solid understanding of ASAM levels of care and medical necessity.
  4. Protect client confidentiality in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  5. Coordinate with outpatient MAT providers for appropriate referrals.
  6. Deliver professional and ethical therapy to clients through various counseling methods.
  7. Maintain timely documentation of casework in accordance with agency standards.
  8. Propose enhancements to protocols or services based on team discussions.
  9. Comply with all regulatory standards and maintain knowledge of relevant laws.
  10. Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  1. Licensed mental health professional in Louisiana (LCSW, LMSW, LPC, P-LPC).
  2. Licensed substance abuse professional in Louisiana (LAC, LPP).
  3. Master's Degree in social work, counseling, psychology, addiction, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  4. Current CPR certification and MOAB/CTI/CPI certification (training provided).

Skills and Competencies:

  1. Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  2. Understanding of substance use disorders and recovery models.
  3. Ability to apply intervention methods effectively.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with strong documentation skills.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  6. Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
  7. Familiarity with ASAM criteria for care level determination.

Physical Requirements:

Employees may need to stand or sit for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. The role may involve exposure to water and hazardous materials, necessitating adherence to safety standards.
