Job Summary

Additionally, they will assist with writing research results and grant reports, lead the annual holiday suicide myth research project, and oversee data management using Qualtrics and Excel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the drawing of media samples and refine coding manuals to ensure high-quality data.
  • Conduct descriptive analyses, including mean and median calculations, Pearson correlations, and tests for normality.
  • Assist with writing research results and grant reports to communicate findings effectively.
  • Lead the annual holiday suicide myth research project, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results.
  • Oversee data management using Qualtrics and Excel, ensuring accurate and efficient data processing.
  • Develop coding instruments and identify new samples for content analysis coding under guidance from senior staff.
  • Recruit, train, and assess undergraduate student coders, ensuring high-quality work and inter-coder reliability.
  • Guide students' work, conduct content analyses as needed, and write reports summarizing the work of the undergraduate coding team.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including submitting student timesheets and organizing meetings.
  • Work with senior staff to implement new study designs and coding instruments, and identify new samples for content analysis.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with 1-3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Post-college experience in an academic research environment is preferred.
  • Content analysis experience, including supervision of content analytic research, is highly preferred.
  • Supervisory experience and/or experience working with and supervising students is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, team-building, and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Work experience coding complex audiovisual material is preferred.
  • Strong analytic and writing skills are desirable, with a track record of academic writing preferred.
  • Proficiency with Word and Excel is required.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn software packages such as SPSS and online survey programs such as Qualtrics is required.
  • Candidates should demonstrate attention to detail, excellent time management skills, and be motivated to deliver work under minimal supervision.
  • Candidates must be comfortable with collaborative work environments and leading large teams of student researchers.
