As a Punjabi Interpreter, you will play a vital role in facilitating communication between non-Punjabi speaking staff and Punjabi-speaking children, ensuring mutual understanding and fostering a sense of comfort and belonging.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and efficient Punjabi interpretation services across various settings, including medical, community, and legal contexts.
- Facilitate communication between staff and children, promoting effective understanding and collaboration.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines and standards of interpreting.
- Assist with the translation of written materials as needed.
- Promote awareness among staff about best practices for working with an interpreter.
- Be sensitive to cultural differences and provide culturally appropriate services.
- Assist with scheduling, coordination, and other administrative tasks as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience as a Punjabi interpreter, with exposure to medical, community, and legal interpreting scenarios.
- Proficiency in English and Punjabi.
- Certification in Interpreting from an accredited institution is preferred.
- Exceptional listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
- Ability to navigate sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.
