Job OverviewThe Academic Counselor for Upward Bound is responsible for delivering services at designated high schools and the host institution aimed at enhancing the academic skills and personal development of high school students from low-income backgrounds and those who are potential first-generation college attendees.
This role involves facilitating academic achievement, promoting high school graduation through rigorous coursework, and supporting the completion of dual enrollment courses, ultimately guiding students toward university enrollment and successful graduation from a four-year college.
The Academic Counselor will report to the Program Coordinator and Program Director. This position is dependent on ongoing grant funding.
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree.
Preferred QualificationsExperience in overcoming challenges similar to those faced by program participants.
Skills and CompetenciesFamiliarity with federal Trio programs, academic support initiatives, or similar services for underprivileged students. Proven ability to cultivate and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff, and the community.
