Assistant General Manager

The Assistant General Manager is a key member of the management team, responsible for maintaining operational efficiencies and improving the overall customer experience. This role requires a strong working knowledge of all aspects of the store, with the ability to provide guidance and support as needed.
Responsibilities- Owns systemic processes as assigned by the General Manager or as the business' needs require.
- Oversees the hiring needs of the store, working collaboratively with the General Manager, management team, and HQ business partners.
- Facilitates training and development for all levels of the store, as assigned by the General Manager.
- Helps create and execute development plans in partnership with the General Manager and HQ business partners.
- Manages direct communication with HQ business partners regarding assigned areas of responsibility.
- Acts as a liaison between the store and HQ in the absence of the General Manager.
- Works collaboratively with all members of the management team to ensure all brand and company standards are consistently met.
- Maintains a working knowledge of all aspects of the business to provide guidance or direct support.
- Assists the management team to achieve performance goals and execute standard operating procedures.
- Supports the store's management team to ensure work tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Executes initiatives designed to improve the customer experience and drive customer satisfaction.
- Oversees and completes opening and closing procedures as required by the business.
- Guides work activities during the day, as well as before and after normal store operating hours.
- Helps complete store administrative responsibilities, including but not limited to scheduling, in-store Human Resource tasks, and payroll.
- Oversight of store maintenance and facilities in the absence of the General Manager. Ensures store equipment is in good standing, manages vendor communication for any necessary work, while providing timely and effective communication to the General Manager and HQ business partners.
- Assists with housekeeping responsibilities, including but not limited to dusting, sweeping, collection of trash, and other tasks traditionally associated with standard retail operations.
- Assist with inventory counts as business needs require.
- Assist the Merchandising team during visual initiatives as required by the business.
- Lead any store visits in the absence of the General Manager.
- Assist with delivering Product Knowledge or Brand Education to store team.
- Open and flexible availability, including but not limited to evenings, overnights, and weekends as well as Holidays.
- 4-5 years of management experience in a customer-facing role.
- 4+ years of retail/apparel operations experience.
- 4+ years leading a team of Managers and/or Supervisors.
- Experience in a commission-based environment is a plus.
- Thorough communication and comfortable delegating tasks and responsibilities.
- Ability to efficiently multitask and manage multiple projects at once.
- Comprehensive computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, and Point of Sales systems.
- Ability to perform business math and simple business accounting.
- Ability to lift and move 25lbs.
- Ability to perform standard tasks related to retail operations, including but not limited to bending, twisting, and climbing ladders/step stools.
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
