We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Psychiatrist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with both acute and chronic adult inpatient populations, including forensic cases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive patient care, including examination, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of medical conditions for adult and geriatric psychiatric inpatients.
- Act as a medical consultant to the attending psychiatrist or practitioner.
- Conduct admission medical assessments, including history and physical examinations, and enter admission orders.
- Order necessary diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures.
- Monitor patient progress, including laboratory values and special procedures, ensuring appropriate follow-up or referrals as needed.
- Consult with authorized representatives or legal guardians regarding patient medical status.
- Collaborate with the attending psychiatric practitioner to provide valid and complete DSM-5 diagnoses supported by timely assessments.
- Ensure the admission process is completed by providing coverage to the medical clinic and admission suite.
- Prescribe medications at the lowest effective dose in accordance with clinical best practices, while assessing and addressing medication side effects and reporting adverse drug reactions.
- Maintain timely and quality documentation in patient records, adhering to policies, procedures, regulatory standards, and guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Physician or Practitioner.
- Strong background in working with patients experiencing Serious Mental Illness (SMI).
- Experience in Psychiatric Crisis Management and Forensic settings is advantageous.
- Familiarity with adult and geriatric admissions, as well as acute and chronic health management.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
- BLS Healthcare Provider certification is required.
Position Details:
- Facility Type: Acute, Adult, Inpatient wards (male and female).
- Demographics: Forensic, NGRI, Civil, Jail Transfer, and Geriatric populations.
- Length of Stay: Short and Long-term.
Additional Information:
- Full-time position, 40 hours per week, with standard office hours.
- No overtime, weekends, holidays, or on-call duties required.
- Participation in monthly Lunch Coverage Call is expected.
