Position Overview

The role involves utilizing advanced imaging technology that integrates radiopharmaceutical imaging with various medical imaging modalities for diagnostic purposes. The technologist will operate equipment related to Nuclear Medicine, Positron Emission Tomography (PET/CT), and Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT/CT).

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations.
  • Clearly explain procedures to patients using accessible language based on professional expertise.
  • Screen patients for pregnancy and ensure that consent forms for IV contrast material administration are completed.
  • Set up equipment correctly to perform prescribed procedures efficiently.
  • Position patients for scans in accordance with departmental standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct various examinations utilizing Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT, and SPECT/CT equipment.
  • Prepare radiopharmaceuticals based on the required activity and quantity for the designated exam.
  • Dispense radiopharmaceuticals for oral ingestion or administer via venipuncture and intravenous injection, employing appropriate techniques for existing IV lines as necessary.
  • Dispose of radioactive waste and survey examination areas for radiation in line with established protocols.
  • Prepare images/films for clinical review and record assignment.
  • Label films/images accurately with patient demographics and exam-specific information.
  • Evaluate films/images for quality and accuracy.
  • Complete necessary documentation and prepare films/images for Radiologist interpretation.
  • Perform quality control measures in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Conduct quality control procedures on prepared radiopharmaceutical kits/doses prior to patient administration.
  • Regularly perform quality control activities on dosing equipment.
  • Maintain and monitor radioactive waste management in compliance with NYS regulations.
  • Execute blood cell labeling as per protocols.
  • Carry out related duties as required.

Essential Functions

Shift Details: Monday - Wednesday 9:30 AM - 6 PM; Thursday - Friday 11:30 AM - 8 PM (Full-Time; 40 hours)

Compensation: This position is eligible for a $10,000 Student Tuition Repayment Program.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine program.
  • Current New York State Department of Health licensure as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
  • R.T. (N) registration with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) or CNMT registration with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
  • Current R.T. (CT) registration with ARRT or NMTCB (CT) certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) certification.
  • Prior experience in Nuclear Medicine.
  • Effective communication skills.

Salary Information

The salary range for this position is $48.94 - $59.05 per hour. This range represents a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant and may be adjusted in the future based on various factors.
