About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Reimbursement Consultant to join our team at Medtronic. As a key member of our Diabetes Group, you will play a critical role in establishing and implementing coding and reimbursement strategies for our portfolio of diabetes technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement reimbursement strategies and programs to obtain coverage, coding, and payment from payers and providers.
  • Provide reimbursement-related advice to product development teams, marketing, sales, regulatory, clinical, and business leaders.
  • Create and execute comprehensive market access strategies through the integration of reimbursement, pricing, health technology assessment, evidence-based medicine review, and health economic data.
  • Engage with societies and other advocacy organizations to shape favorable healthcare policies and expand access to innovation.
  • Identify payer opportunities and issues with input from the field team and develop programs to resolve or decrease barriers to entry for our products or therapies.
  • Design, develop, and implement an integrated approach to all aspects of the payer value proposition from early development through market maturity to transition to newer, more beneficial therapies.
  • Work closely with Health Economics and Outcomes Research staff to evaluate the economic impact of the use of therapies/products on all payer types.
  • May create training and deliver education programs to sales force, physicians, medical directors, billing personnel, distributors, and other external stakeholders.
  • Monitor the evolving landscape, including payers, HTA, reimbursement influencers, and other decision-makers, to ensure the continuous changing reimbursement systems remain fair to all involved parties.
  • Engage in both US and OUS reimbursement planning activities, with strategies spanning durable medical equipment, pharmacy, physician, and other payment systems as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 10 years of experience in health policy, reimbursement, health economics, health services research, or other field with direct relevance to the role, OR
  • Advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of prior experience in health policy, reimbursement, health economics, health services research, or other field with direct relevance to the role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of US healthcare reimbursement mechanisms (Medicare and commercial payment systems, third-party payer coverage, clinical and procedural coding) and regulations related to medical technology products.
  • Direct experience securing new coding and establishing coverage/payment for new technology.
