Key Information:

Role: Kafka Systems Engineer

Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid work model)

Contract Duration: 6-12 months

Core Responsibilities:

  • Perform installation and configuration of Confluent Kafka, Apache Kafka, and RabbitMQ across various platforms including Linux, EC2, Windows, and AIX, as well as Cloud Kafka configurations such as MSK and Confluent Cloud.
  • Utilize best practices and design patterns for effective Confluent Kafka implementation.
  • Administer Middleware solutions using WebSphere MQ Series 80.
  • Monitor, diagnose, and resolve issues related to Kafka operations.
  • Set up and manage Local and Remote Queue Managers.
  • Implement Distribution Communication and Clustering Communication across diverse systems.
  • Configure and execute Disaster Recovery (DR) scenarios.
  • Expertly handle procedures and processes for outage resolution and provide production support for multiple initiatives.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using MQSC commands.
  • Create Kafka topics through control center and command line interfaces, addressing user-reported issues effectively.
  • Manage Access Control List (ACL) commands to grant user access, facilitating the onboarding of new clients in Kafka environments and other messaging technologies.
  • Establish federations as per client specifications to ensure seamless message flow from downstream to upstream.
