Aerospace Sheet Metal Assembly Technician Job Description

Vale Group is seeking an experienced Aerospace Sheet Metal Assembly Technician to join our team in Edgewood, NY. This role is crucial for performing a variety of assembly, installation, and maintenance operations in the fabrication of aircraft lots, lines, and major sheet metal assemblies.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform structural assembly and riveting operations involving details, sheet metal parts, extrusions, castings, and forgings in the fabrication of minor, sub, and major assemblies
  • Conduct fitting and rework operations to meet production standards
  • Utilize production jigs and fixtures for assembly operations where accessibility is manageable
  • Employ tools like drills, squeezers, riveters, shears, files, taps, reams, and drills to close tolerances
  • Check work for completeness and accuracy; maintain Quality, Schedule, and Cost standards
  • Work from Blueprints, Work Instructions, and Engineering Specifications
  • Teach and mentor less experienced mechanics
  • Notify supervision of any issues with equipment, materials, and product quality
  • Adhere to all applicable Environmental, Safety, Health, FOD, and Operations Procedures/Directives
Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of minimum experience in a similar role as a sheet metal assembly technician, preferably in an aerospace/aviation manufacturing environment.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with assembly and subassembly aircraft components
