Role Summary:
As a Program Leader, you will be responsible for guiding a designated group of students, ensuring a supportive and enriching environment. Your role is crucial in fostering personal growth and development while adhering to established safety guidelines. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, demonstrating leadership and effective communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with homework and provide academic enrichment activities, utilizing the curriculum and resources provided.
  • Create a welcoming atmosphere that encourages student participation and a sense of belonging.
  • Support positive behavior choices among students and implement disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Engage with children and youth by following and contributing to lesson plans.
  • Ensure a safe environment by maintaining cleanliness and organization at the program site.
  • Encourage positive interactions between volunteers and students, following child safety protocols.
  • Monitor student attendance and manage sign-in/sign-out procedures for students and volunteers.
  • Identify and communicate student needs to relevant stakeholders, including Site Coordinators and parents.
  • Commit to a full-year program by being punctual and completing necessary documentation.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development activities.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with young children, with the ability to inspire and motivate.
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. is required.
  • Additional qualifications include 48 college semester units or 60 college quarter units, or passing an Instructional Aide Test (as applicable).
  • Proficient in spoken and written English suitable for a public school environment.

Background Requirements:

  • Successful completion of Live Scan (criminal background check via fingerprinting).
  • Clear TB test documentation.
  • Passage of Advanced Math and English skills testing (K–8).
