Key Responsibilities:
Full-Time, Days

The Cardiac Monitor Technician is an unlicensed individual responsible for indirect patient care within the department. This role involves monitoring cardiac rhythms through direct cardiac monitors and facilitating communication needs within the department. The technician will transcribe physician orders in the absence of CPOE and EMR clinical documentation systems, ensuring that lab and radiology tests are properly ordered and completed. Additionally, the technician will prepare and maintain records in the ICU.

The technician will also order supplies for the unit and ensure that each patient's chart is accurately completed with necessary forms on a daily basis.

While primarily focused on dysrhythmia monitoring, the technician may assist nursing staff with indirect patient care duties, provided these activities do not interfere with their primary responsibilities.


ICU Specific Duties:
Under the direct supervision of the RN, the technician may provide direct patient care to adult and geriatric patients if they possess an active CNA certification, demonstrate annual competency in CNA duties and skills, and are relieved of Monitor Technician duties during this time.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or Equivalent or relevant experience is required for all new hires.

Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate upon hire and maintenance of this certification is required.

Current BLS (AHA) certification upon hire and maintenance of this certification is required.

Preferred: Six months of prior experience as a Monitor Technician.
