Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team at Watertown Health Care Center. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our physical plant and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and Repair: Collect and review maintenance requisitions from all units and departments, establish priorities, assign staff, inspect, replace, repair, or resolve problems.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Implement and maintain the approved preventative maintenance program throughout the physical plant and for all equipment per the schedule.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain all essential equipment, including boiler room equipment, nursing unit/medication room refrigerators, kitchen refrigerator/freezer, and laundry equipment, in safe operating condition.
  • Communication Systems: Inspect, test, and maintain the resident call system to ensure a functioning communication system from rooms, toilets, and bathing facilities.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Cooperate with other departments to identify and accommodate individual resident needs and preferences, communicate directly with residents, and complete required documentation and record keeping of maintenance activities.
  • Quality Improvement: Collaborate with consultants to identify areas for improvement and implement suggestions to enhance the quality of maintenance services.
  • Supply Management: Maintain adequate supplies and tools for efficient and effective functioning of the maintenance department and facility operations.
  • Emergency Response: Coordinate facility fire and disaster drills and carry out assigned duties to ensure resident safety in the event of an emergency.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience with maintenance for a skilled nursing facility.
  • Life Safety Knowledge: Possess knowledge of life safety codes and regulations.
