Site Safety Officer

Job Summary:

ASRC Federal is seeking a highly skilled Site Safety Officer to join our team in Huntsville, AL. As a key member of our safety team, you will be responsible for implementing corporate safety and health standards and procedures in accordance with Federal, State, and Local regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a zero-injury safety culture on each project
  • Conduct weekly documented jobsite safety inspections
  • Direct orientations for all new project workers
  • Assist with and review subcontractor daily pre-task safety analysis
  • Identify project trends and execute proactive safety initiatives to eliminate incidents
  • Report all incidents in an effective and timely manner

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety and Health or equivalent field
  • Minimum 3 years of site safety experience and in building construction, with a working knowledge of safety/environment principles and techniques
  • Minimum 1 year of field experience required
  • Understanding of applicable Federal, State and Local safety and environmental regulations (EM 385, OSHA, EPA, ADEM, etc.)
  • Computer skills with familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Team player, leader and motivated to learn and take ownership and accountability
  • Change agent, demonstrating courageous leadership driving and continuous improvement mindset
  • Must be a US Citizen. Possess an active Secret clearance or higher
  • Be able to successfully complete a government issued background investigation

Physical Requirements:

  • Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Able to work at heights, able to climb ladders, access/inspect scaffolding and roof areas
  • Noise level is usually moderate to very loud

Tools/Technology/Certifications:

  • Must have current safety and environmental training (OSHA 30 hour for General Industry)
