Overview

Emory Healthcare is a leading academic health system in Georgia, committed to delivering exceptional patient care and advancing medical research. We are seeking an experienced Medical Technologist II to join our team.

This is a PRN position, working 7pm - 7am, Saturday - Sunday, every other weekend, with a flat rate of $38.50/hr.

Responsibilities

As a Medical Technologist II, you will be responsible for performing standardized and semi-routine biological, chemical, hematological, immunological, immunohemotological, microbiological, and serological tests in a research or clinical laboratory.

You will provide guidance to lower-level technologists, assist in administrative activities, staff and student education, research, and/or safety and infection control programs.

Educate staff and students by demonstrating procedures and assisting in orientation and continuing education activities.

Evaluate the validity of test results, compare to previous results and other laboratory data, and determine whether test results should be released, repeated, or referred to a pathologist.

May perform venipuncture or capillary puncture to obtain blood specimens.

Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical lab science, or a chemical, physical, or biological science.

Two years of medical technology experience, with certification by one of the following accreditation agencies: MT (ASCP), MLS(ASCP), or categorical.

Physical and Environmental Demands

This position requires occasional to frequent standing and walking, occasional sitting, and close eye work.

Environmental exposures include blood-borne pathogen exposure, bio-hazardous waste, chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, communicable diseases, electrical shock, floor surfaces, hot/cold temperatures, indoor/outdoor conditions, latex, lighting, patient care/handling injuries, radiation, shift work, and travel may be required.

Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, is required.
