Software Build and Release Engineer, Associate Level

Crunchy Data is seeking an Associate-level Software Build and Release Engineer to join their team.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for building software packages and installers.
We are looking for someone who is excited about building quality software and delivering it to customers in a controlled, managed way.
- Become a part of the gateway team that performs checks and balances to ensure quality software is released to customers.
- Write scripts that automate building software for various platforms and operating systems.
- Write scripts that automate testing of software on various platforms.
- Assist the Build and Release team with its backlog.
- Coordinate with development teams to ensure quality handoff of software.
Please note: This is not a software application development position.
Requirements- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Software Build and Release Engineer.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with git or equivalent software version control tools.
- Minimum 1 year of experience with Linux shell scripting (bash / zsh, etc...).
- Minimum 1 year experience with at least one Continuous Integration system (GitLab, CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Atlassian Bamboo, CircleCI, Travis CI).
- Minimum 1 year of experience with build toolchains, such as Makefiles, cmake, meson, and / or autoconf.
- Minimum 1 year of experience with Linux (Red Hat or Debian).
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle, including QA and deployments.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
The following are considered a plus:
- Experience building RPM packages or Debian packages.
- Experience with scripting language skills such as ruby / perl / python.
- Kubernetes and / or Docker container experience.
- Experience with Windows builds and installation (MSVC / MinGW).
- Experience with cloud service providers such as AWS / GCP.
- Experience with PostgreSQL.
- Demonstrated taking initiative to assist an organization.
