Jail Navigator Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with Community Behavioral Health Liaisons to ensure appropriate post-release plans and diversion opportunities are explored.
  • Collaborate with local behavioral health providers and entities to provide consultation on behavioral health issues and support individuals with behavioral health needs.
  • Assess individuals with behavioral health needs and provide de-escalation support as needed.
  • Support individuals with behavioral health needs in accessing needed resources and services, including completing necessary paperwork to explore diversion opportunities.
  • Assist jails with navigating inpatient hospitalization processes for individuals presenting a likelihood of serious harm due to mental disorder.
  • Participate in critical incident de-briefs for jail staff and complete all mandatory documentation as assigned by the Behavioral Health Liaison Supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of behavioral health issues and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
