The Facilities Management division of West Virginia University is looking for candidates for the position of Campus Services Operations Supervisor.

Position Overview

As a Campus Services Operations Supervisor, you will oversee a range of support services aimed at ensuring the cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of institutional buildings and their surrounding environments. This role requires adherence to established protocols, techniques, and safety standards, with some discretion needed to interpret instructions. You will be responsible for assigning and directing work tasks based on operational requirements.

The Facilities Management division is crucial to the success of the University, employing skilled professionals dedicated to maintaining, safeguarding, and enhancing the University's facilities and grounds. Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the interior cleanliness of all facilities, including classrooms, offices, laboratories, and public areas through various cleaning methods such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting.
  • Ensure the exterior cleanliness of buildings by managing debris removal, snow and ice clearance, and graffiti cleaning.
  • Utilize various hand and power tools to complete daily tasks efficiently.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties such as replacing light bulbs, unclogging drains, and assembling furniture as required.
  • Assist management in supervising and guiding campus service workers in their operational tasks, including training new staff. Function as a team leader to meet departmental needs, which includes inspecting facilities, submitting work orders, and monitoring compliance with policies.
  • Collect and dispose of waste and litter throughout institutional buildings.
  • Manage access to buildings by locking and unlocking as directed.
  • Participate in training sessions and meetings to stay updated on safety protocols and best practices.
Pay Grade: PG10

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least six (6) months of experience in:
    • Commercial restroom cleaning, floor maintenance, and carpet cleaning procedures. Proficient in operating commercial custodial equipment such as scrubbers and buffers.
    • Training others in the use of commercial cleaning equipment and leadership/supervisory skills preferred.
  • Ability to develop cleaning schedules,
  • Proven ability to train others in safe and effective cleaning practices
  • Basic proficiency in reading, writing, and math skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with supervisors and team members.
  • Ability to understand and follow both oral and written instructions.
  • Capacity to quickly learn custodial and groundskeeping methods and safety principles.
  • Ability to operate relevant labor-supporting and custodial equipment.
  • Physical capability to perform the duties of the position, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in environments with exposure to dust, chemicals, and varying temperatures.
  • Commitment to maintaining attendance and punctuality standards.
