About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Campus Service Worker to join our team at the Health Sciences Center facilities. As a key member of our Facilities Management department, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our students, faculty, and staff.

Under the direction of a Manager and/or Assistant Supervisor or Lead, you will perform general cleaning of assigned areas, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, waxing, and polishing floors, hallways, stairs, elevators, and related fixtures. You will also be responsible for cleaning and disinfecting bathroom walls, floors, fixtures, stalls, mirrors, lavatories, commodes, and other plumbing facilities.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Replenishing bathroom supplies, including toilet tissue, towels, and soap
  • Vacuuming and shampooing carpets, rugs, and upholstery using commercial vacuum cleaners and shampooers
  • Dusting and polishing furniture, desks, tabletops, file cabinets, bookcases, and related woodwork
  • Empting and cleaning waste receptacles
  • Transporting trash and waste to disposal areas
  • Cleaning area around disposal sites
  • Washing and cleaning walls, ceiling, doors, windows, radiators, and ventilators
  • Mixing, diluting, and using commercial strength disinfectants, germicidal detergents, and other stringent cleaning solutions following established safety procedures
  • Moving, setting up, rearranging, and dismantling desks, tables, chairs, displays, and other related equipment using a dolly, hand cart, or physically lifting objects

This is a full-time position with a 37.5-hour workweek, 13 paid holidays, 15 annual leave days, and 18 sick days per year. You will also be eligible for a range of benefits, including health insurance, 401(a) retirement savings, and wellness programs.

Requirements include:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • A minimum of six (6) months experience in broad-based custodial cleaning skills
  • Ability to operate powered custodial equipment
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and carry items as necessary
  • Ability to learn how to apply custodial products (cleaners, surface finishes, and disinfectants)
  • Ability to read and write and follow safety instructions
  • Ability to maintain proper attendance levels and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work overtime as required
  • Ability to manage time and resources effectively
  • Ability to operate a computer and accurately enter information

Physical demands include daily lifting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping.
