Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Clerk I-Child Nutrition to join our team at Sheldon Independent School District. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of clerical accounting duties in support of child nutrition operations and activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accrual accounting for child nutrition department books and payroll
  • Prepare correspondence concerning food service activities as requested
  • Verify and process various forms and applications
  • Establish filing systems and maintain employee attendance records
  • Accounting duties including accounts payable, accounts receivables, cash counting, deposits, inventory, budgets, purchasing/activities, and reconciliations
  • Compile and assure accuracy of meal count data and prepare related reports
  • Verify, balance, and adjust cafeteria cash reports sheets and assigned accounts
  • Monitor funds for income and expenditures and audit accounts for errors
  • Transfer funds, receive monies, and balance cash accounts
  • Compile information and prepare and maintain various financial and statistical logs, records, and reports
  • Process Free/Reduced meal applications and operate the District Child Nutrition Information & Payment System point of sale system
Requirements
  • 3 years related accounting/clerical experience, preferably in a public education environment
  • Proficient skills in keyboarding, word processing, and file maintenance
  • Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations related to Child Nutrition Programs
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to use personal computers and software to develop spreadsheets and databases
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress. The position requires the ability to lift/carry office supplies and printed materials weighing up to 25 pounds and to move about the work environment for sustained periods.
