Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is based on licensure with the Minnesota Board of Nursing, with a minimum hourly rate of $26.91 (LPN) or $32.09 (RN). Additionally, regular positions working an average of 30 hours per week are eligible for benefits.

Job Description

The primary objective of the Health Office Nurse is to provide expeditious care for student health, injuries, and/or illnesses. This involves administering medications, conducting school screenings, collaborating with students who have special needs, and preventing the transmission of communicable diseases.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer medications, including simple and complex medications, under the guidance of a licensed school nurse.
  • Assist in conducting school screenings, such as vision, hearing, and early childhood screenings.
  • Collaborate with the Licensed School Nurse in developing services for students with special needs.
  • Provide first aid, emergency, and episodic care in alignment with nursing licensure and expertise.
  • Prevent the transmission of communicable diseases by gathering student immunization data.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must possess a current Minnesota Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license or Registered Nurse (RN), CPR and first aid certification, proficiency in using electronic health records, knowledge of and experience working with children with special health needs, experience managing chronic health conditions, and excellent interpersonal skills.
