Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Surgical Technologist to join our team at the Medical University of South Carolina. As a key member of our operating room team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth execution of surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain a sterile environment for surgical procedures, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Assist surgeons and other medical staff during procedures, providing support and maintaining a safe and efficient workflow.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills required to provide care and/or service appropriate to the level of development of patients, with consideration of the needs of patients' families.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless communication and coordination of patient care.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices and advancements in surgical technology.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; graduation from an accredited school of surgical technology or surgical technology military program preferred.
  • At least two years of work experience as a Certified Surgical Tech required; completion of all CST III career ladder requirements is required.
  • Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) required.
  • A current CPR card is required; either an American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers card or an American Red Cross Professional Rescuer card required.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to surgical procedures and patient care. The successful candidate will be able to maintain a high level of concentration and attention to detail, while working effectively as part of a team.
